Known as "The Big Apple", New York City is a global epicenter of art, culture, fashion and finance. Home to the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park, as well as many other iconic sites, New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world. New York has many tourist attractions like the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations headquarters, the Empire State building and over 300 museums. It is renown for its wide variety of entertainments including the world famous Broadway theaters, and wide variety of cuisines in it's over 30,000 restaurants.

ASCE, in fact, was founded in 1852 in New York City, as the American Society of Civil Engineers and Architects; the name changed in 1868. The founding meeting took place at the Croton Reservoir in Manhattan at the Office of the Chief Engineer of the municipal agency assuring safe, potable water for the growing city.
